Visiting Author Program
Dr. Susan Kepner, Professor Emeritus of UC Berkeley, was the first speaker in BBFL's Visiting Author program, launched on March 8, 2019. She taught at Berkeley's Department of South and Southeast Asian Studies, authored many books, and is the renowned translator of best-selling Thai novels such as Letters from Thailand and A Child of the Northeast.
We've also had Kayleigh Ghiot visit BBFL to read her book My Mom's a sheep to toddlers in our Story Time program.
BBFL's Visiting Author program has also featured Thai writers such as Laylatov Vayla, who wrote his children's book, Lom Pad Pad Lom, in the Issan dialect that is spoken in Northeastern Thailand.
