I started Bumble Bee Free Library in 2013 when I was a new empty nester. Growing up in Taipei, I never had the chance to set foot in a library. It wasn't until after I moved to the United States that I discovered the magic of public libraries. The public library system in the U.S. opened up a whole new world for me.
Upon returning to Asia as an adult and moving to Bangkok, I wanted to offer my Thai neighbors the same free access to books and library services that I had enjoyed. BBFL started out as a box of my children's books and is now home to more than 7,000 books plus a dozen free community programs. Bumble Bee Free Library is my way of giving back to Thailand, my host country.​
